Recent Happenings

This past weekend was FULL of excitement...  We had many things on the agenda.  Our week was pretty much a typical week; busy, stressful, full of meetings, & after work commitments... all in all little time to relax and get a decent nights sleep.  Who were we kidding...  thinking the weekend would be a time to catch up on sleep.

Friday night my parents came in town & brought my nephew along for the BIG Newton-Conover Red Devils football game on Saturday morning.  They live a couple hours away and wanted to avoid rushing to Chapel Hill on Saturday morning.  We love it when they come to visit!  This weekend was a short visit though.... they were only in town until Saturday afternoon.

We got a late start at Friday evening!  When they arrived we went to eat dinner ( @ 9 o'clock).  My best friend growing up also surprised us and came in town for the weekend.  We all enjoyed (well most of  us) enjoyed  a few drinks, wings, and chicken and Wild Wing Cafe.  In the midst of ordering dinner & waiting for it to arrive... my nephew* fell asleep on the booth and remained asleep the rest of the meal.  After dinner we decided the best for us was to go home and try to get a little sleep & rest up for the big game.

Saturday morning my Alma Mater played in there second consecutive State Championship game...

Saturday morning we were greeted very early (5 am) by Zachary* who was up and atem' and ready to roll!  We all got up, showered and darted out the door to get to the game with plenty of time to bundle up and pick the perfect seat.   We met my b-i-l at the game and saw many friends.  I always enjoy seeing old classmates & catching up on everyone's doings!

The outcome of the game wasn't what we had hoped for.... The boys lost!  They do deserve lots of credit though, the team they lost two had not lost a state championship game in 4 consecutive years.  Even more impressive... the senior teammates were on a 74-0 winning streak.  They had not lost ONE SINGLE GAME since 7th grade.  Impressive!!

After the game... we watched a little Mountaineer Football.  The outcome of the Appalachian game was also a little disappointing!  We were hoping that A. Edwards would go out with a BANG his senior year.

We spent Saturday night with our awesome neighbors at our favorite bar Lynnwood.  We decided this year instead of exchanging small gifts we would go "dutch" and do dinner & drinks.  Well worth it!  We always talk about how nice it would be to have time to get together more often. Saturday night was a good reason for the season!  Of course our night didn't stop after dinner & drinks.  We had a crowd at our house to "shut down" the evening.  We love having a place to entertain & even more so having great friends to entertain with!

Needless to say.... Saturday didn't lend us much time to sleep!  So we spent the WHOLE DAY ON SUNDAY catching up.  We slept right through our house guest packing up and heading out, right through breakfast & lunch.  We roused just in time to get an early dinner & then came home and went right back to sleep!

I think we are caught up on sleep for a few days & are looking forward to the many Christmas festivities going on this week!

* I will post pictures of our weekend shenanigans when I get a chance.   We got lots of great shots with our new camera!
